The Thai Massage Student Clinic is a capstone, hands-on practicum designed to support students in transitioning from structured classroom learning into confident, professional client-centered practice. Students will offer supervised, affordable Thai massage sessions to the public. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students will gain essential real-world experience in client communication, therapeutic adaptation, session planning, time management, professional conduct, documentation, and clinical self-reflection. The clinic provides an opportunity to embody the role of a Thai massage practitioner while offering compassionate healing touch to the local community.

Learning Objectives & Outcomes

By the end of this clinic, students will be able to:

  • Conduct client intakes and interviews professionally and respectfully
  • Develop and deliver personalized Thai massage treatments
  • Apply techniques from all four positions: supine, prone, side-lying, seated
  • Communicate clearly with clients about goals, preferences, and aftercare
  • Maintain ethical, grounded, and compassionate therapeutic presence
  • Demonstrate professional boundaries, hygiene, and time management
  • Receive and integrate instructor and peer feedback to refine practice

Target Audience

Massage therapy students who have completed foundational coursework in Traditional Thai Massage and wish to deepen their professional clinical expertise.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of THAI 0102, 0201, and 0202 (or equivalent 96 hours of Thai massage training)
  • Demonstrated readiness for public practice, as assessed by instructors

  • Active participation in all clinical practicum activities
  • Completion of accurate and thorough SOAP note documentation
  • Constructive feedback and evaluation from supervising instructors and peers
